Det kommer säkert fler foton och videos närmaste veckan, folk har knappt kommit hem från Silkenfest ännu.

Två nya hälsoprojekt för Silken Windhound

Trots att varken DM eller CEA någonsin har hittats hos Silken Windhound drar vi nu igång 2 stora hälsoprojekt för att se om vi har något av det  i rasen.

Problemen  finns hos några av de raser som rasen baseras på och vi behöver veta om vi har 2 för oss hittills okända hälsoproblem som aldrig upptäckts vid gängse hälsotester som t ex ögonlysningar att ta hänsyn till i avelsarbetet.

Med de nya DNA-tester som står till buds så gör vi en första testningsomgång för att se om vi hittar bärare eller inte, av såväl DM som CEA.

Silken Windhounds är nu erkända i USA av UKC

Nu är det officiellt, Silken Windhounds har erkänts i USA av UKC.

UKC är United Kennel Club, den näst största kennelklubben i USA efter AKC, Amerikanska Kennelklubben.

UKC i sig innebär inga större förändringar för rasen här i Sverige men vissa saker som stamboken t ex påverkas. Svenska Silken Windhoundklubbens hemsida kommer att uppdateras under nästa vecka med förklaringar om dom förändringar som påverkar oss här i Sverige och i Europa.

The Silken Windhound is small to medium-sized and is an intelligent hound of balanced character. While this breed exhibits strong prey drive in the field they are gentle, affectionate and devoted companion animals. The Silkens participate in a variety of dog events such as conformation, lure coursing, agility, obedience, flyball and perform as therapy and service dogs.

UKC welcomes the Silken Windhound and its fanciers and look forward to seeing this exciting breed compete in UKC events.
